SAWCLicious: Spaghetti Bolognese

One of French friends got to try my version of Spaghetti Bolognese and he really likes it. I thought he was joking. I only got to prove that he really liked it when he finished the left-over pasta for 3 consecutive days!

For those who wanted to try it out, it's an easy recipe.

Spaghetti Bolognaise

Ingredients
  • 400grams of ground beef
  • 1.5L tomato sauce (preferably tomato puree)
  • 150grams fresh mushroom sliced
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 4 cloves of garlic minced
  • 1 large tomato diced
  • 2 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1.5 tsp. paprika
  • 3-4 bay leaves
  • 2 tsp. dried parsely
  • 2-3 tsp. white sugar
  • 2 tbsp. parmigiano-reggiano
  • 3-4 tbsp. emmental/guyere cheese
  • 4 tbsp. Olive Oil
  • pepper and coarse salt
Procedure
  1. Heat olive oil in a pot and saute onion and garlic until onion becomes soft and translucent.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until brown around 15-25 minutes.
  3. Add mushroom and tomato into the pot and cook for another 5 minutes.
  4. Pour the tomato puree and stir the sauce for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Mix in paprika, oregano, parsley, bay leaves, salt, sugar, and pepper. Let it simmer in low heat for 2 hours. If you find the sauce to too thick, you can add some water. I normally add a cup of water.
  6. Lastly, I would mix in parmigiano-reggiano and some pasta cheese (cheedar, emmental, gruyere) and let it simmer for another 10 minutes before serving.
