SAWCLicious: Sinigang na Hipon (Sour Broth Soup with Shrimps)

This dish was one of the missed Filipino food that I always crave for. Not only is it very easy to cook but it always have this fulfilling feeling after eating it. Sinigang is a sour broth made usually with a tamarind base and can either be cooked with pork, fish, or shrimps and a mixture of different vegetables. The sour broth can also be made by other ingredients like guava, calamansi, or raw mangoes. For this post, I will share how I make them with shrimps. My European friends really likes this dish whenever I serve it to them.

My favorite ingredient to use for sinigang is the ready-made mix like below. You can easily find it in any Chinese Asian shops within Brussels.

SAWCLicious: Wintermelon Soup

I went to the Asian Grocery Store last week and to my surprise I saw wintermelon being sold in Brussels! I was so excited to buy it and try my Mom's wintermelon soup recipe. I really miss this as we don't cook it that often as well in Manila. One thing is for sure though, this is perfect for winter!

Wintermelon is a fruit that is served as a vegetable when it matures. The soup is cooked and normally served in the fruit itself just like the picture below. I don't have that luxury as I only saw sliced wintermelon in the store. The ingredients of this soup can vary depending on the chef's preference. I'm sharing today what my mom normally cooks at home.

SAWCLicious: Chicken Macaroni Soup (Chicken Sopas)

My friend Pia here in Brussels loves this Filipino soup. Last February, the weather was so cold in Brussels and this soup was just perfect for dinner on a cold night. Not only is it delicious but it is also very easy to prepare the dish. Let me share my version of this macaroni soup.
